WAREHOUSE & YARD STORAGE
We deliver cost-effective storage and
logistics solutions that streamline operations
and maintain efficiency:
- Inventory and warehouse management
- Container handling & yard optimization
- Equipment storage & maintenance
Warehouse Storage (Indoor)
Indoor storage focuses on vertical space utilization and protecting inventory from the elements.
- Racking Systems:
- Selective Racking: The most common type; provides 100% accessibility to every pallet but requires more aisle space.
- Drive-In/Drive-Through: High-density storage where forklifts drive into the rack rows. Best for large quantities of the same SKU.
- Mezzanines: Creating a “second floor” to double your footprint for picking operations or office space without expanding the building.
- Slotting Strategy:
- Velocity Mapping: Place “fast-movers” (high-demand items) near shipping docks to minimize travel time.
- Golden Zone: Keep heavy or frequent items between knee and shoulder height to reduce strain on workers.
- Climate & Safety: * Requires lighting, fire suppression (sprinklers), and often HVAC systems for sensitive goods like electronics or perishables.
Yard Storage (Outdoor)
Yard storage is typically reserved for bulk, weather-resistant, or oversized items. It is often cheaper per square foot but requires much more logistical planning.
- Surface Types:
- Paved (Concrete/Asphalt): Best for heavy forklift traffic and preventing “sinking” of heavy loads.
- Gravel/Dirt: Cost-effective for long-term storage of heavy machinery or construction materials, but requires more maintenance and creates dust.
- Layout & Zoning:
- Flow Paths: Must be wide enough for large vehicles (flatbeds, cranes) to turn.
- Visibility: Use clear signage and heavy-duty paint to mark lanes, as outdoor environments get chaotic during inclement weather or at night.
- Security & Protection:
- Fencing, high-intensity lighting, and CCTV are non-negotiable for outdoor assets.
- Tarping/Shrink-wrapping: Even “weather-proof” items benefit from protection against UV damage and corrosion.
The Integration: “Cross-Docking”
The most efficient operations treat the yard and the warehouse as a single ecosystem.
- Yard Management Systems (YMS): Software that tracks trailers and shipments parked outside so the warehouse team knows exactly what is coming to the dock next.
- Staging Areas: Using the yard as a “buffer” for incoming shipments to prevent the indoor receiving area from becoming a bottleneck.
Pro Tip: Don’t ignore your lighting. In a warehouse, bad lighting causes picking errors; in a yard, bad lighting causes accidents.
